Cutbacks announced at work today

Posted at 12:51 AM on 9 October 2001

Cutbacks announced at work today leave me with the very real threat of losing my job. Although they're aiming at between 5-10% across the board in Europe (about 500 jobs), nearly 200 of those will be from IT alone. And I wouldn't hold out too much hope for the survival of our particular team at all... a bit too Internet oriented, and that's hardly flavour-of-the-month at the moment, is it? Grim faces all around the office today.

I'm going to start looking for a new job on the basis that the earlier I begin, the more likely I'll be able to find something before the axe finally drops.

Not a lot else to say today, really - although the redundancy options are the first real life example of the prisoner's dilemma I've ever faced...
