I'm starting to think seriously about finishing up my "link sync" project (a gpl'd bookmark synchroniser) after noticing on metafilter that a popular bookmark synchronisation system is to start charging for its services. I've been working on mine on-and-off for a while now, but haven't really had much impetus to complete it. And it's pretty clunky. And doesn't remember the order of your links in IE. And another couple of other glitches. But it's OS independent and fairly modular, which should make it comparatively easy to add support for new browsers to. But it does beg the question as to whether anyone would actually find this useful, or whether there are far better solutions available. I'm gonna have to research this a bit more, I can tell. sigh.
