Well, it's been a few days since my last entry, and my first since leaving Wheel (pres.co). I'm now the proud owner of a GPS unit, which was presented to me on the Friday night. I've rarely been so chuffed 8). Since then, I've used it to track myself to the corner shop (about a 1 minute walk), to Watford Electronics (about 10 minutes walk) and to PC World (about 5 minutes drive). The best bit is it tells you exactly how fast you're travelling, how far you've got left to go, and all manner of not-necessarily useful but interesting statistics 8).
Earlier this weekend, I decided to build a computer out of all the spare bits I've got knocking around. All I needed to buy was a case and a floppy disk drive. But I ended up buying a new burn-proof CD-RW drive (it burnt the 638Mb FreeBSD 4.2 ISO image in 6 minutes 59 seconds, including lead in/out), then a new SCSI card so I could transplant my old CD burner into the "new" machine, then a switch box so I can use the same monitor, keyboard and mouse as my other downstairs PC, and then all the wires to connect everything together. It's getting a bit cramped now, but at least it's all done, and when all's said and done it's pretty nifty!
So now I have a week off. And a new toy to play with.
I'll keep you posted. 8)
