Seven and a half months

Seven and a half months ago, a day after Milly was born, our hamster (Monty) escaped from his cage. We had long since assumed that he'd departed to hamster heaven, or at the very least, a cat's tummy. However there seems to be a growing amount of evidence that he has (in fact) escaped death's clutches and roams freely under the sink in the kitchen. Well, either that or we've got a mouse. Either way we've got to find some way of removing said rodent.

This all came to a head earlier this evening when I discovered that the lead connecting my PS2 to the TV had been chewed. More precisely, the video component of the lead. Right the way through. The TV didn't even get an attack of the wavies when the PS2 was turned on. Joy. All was not lost, however - I'd recently upgraded my soldering kit (in order to chip my DVD player to play R1E discs) so I was able to clean up and reconnect the nibbled bits, so at least I now have a picture. But it was annoying to say the least.

After that had been sorted out, we faced the problem of checking that nothing more serious (with a greater propensity to spark, for instance) had been gnawed, but fortunately (and typically) the PS2 lead appears to have been the only victim as of yet. We'd better find the culprit quickly however, as we've got hundreds of feet of cabling running around the house and I really don't want to hunt down further breaks. Maybe it's time to investigate some prices for wireless networking equipment?
