A year in the life...

Posted at 8:51 PM on 6 February 2002

Well today marks the first anniversary of this blog, remarkably enough. Never would have thought it. I just thought I might mark the occasion. Buy a cake. Or something. I haven't. But at least I had the option. Hmmm.

I kept a diary ten years ago. Today is also the ten-year anniversary of my mock A-Level English Lit exam. And a mock Chemistry exam (the "hard" paper - well, according to me...). And it's also the ten-year anniversary of me reading up to page 192 of "The Lord of the Rings". Obviously something I felt was worthy of note.

Unfortunately, those factoids are buried amidst some of the most painfully turgid and self-obsessed prose I've had the misfortune to read in a long time. I'd quote some if it wasn't so excrutiatingly embarrassing. Now I hope you realise I'm under no illusions here; I know that most of what I write here is a load of rubbish; but at least there are some signs of improvement.

Hopefully, ten years from now, I'll look back at this entry and note a similar improvement. And I'll drink to that. 8)

Just read that back. "Most of what I write"? I'm flattering myself.

Hah! LOL Chris! 'grats on the 1 year of blogging anyway ;-)

Likewise. I'm a big fan of both what and how you write.

Happy Birthday.
