Twas Milly's birthday on Saturday (reaching the grand old age of 2!) which was nice. She liked her presents (as did Thomas), one of the highlights being a scale-model replica of a Dyson vacuum cleaner. I hasten to add that it was Terri's idea to get her this (and indeed, it's very cute), but I have to admit that I'm slightly troubled by the idea that we're encouraging gender stereotypes... Although given the enthusiasm with which Thomas "cleaned" the carpet, maybe I should just consider it training for when they're older.
On Sunday, we went to Legoland. Now, we all had a really good time (spending the whole day there till it closed), but I'm not exaggerating when I say that it's without doubt the most expensive "family outing" we've ever taken the kids on. £1.20 for a 300ml drink is a bit steep, especially when you've got a lot of thirsty children. The food was motorway-service-station expensive too. At least we saved with a "kids get in free" voucher though. 8)
Thomas made me a father's day card, and it's a minor work of art. He's pretty talented with a pencil (but not at driving - he had a ride in a go-cart at Legoland which had Terri and I in tears of laughter - he managed about half a lap and managed to steer himself into the walls, crash into other carts, etc. Obviously takes after his Daddy...).
Changing the subject completely, this tickled me: Terri's been writing thank-you cards a lot over the weekend (for Eulalia's blessing and Milly's birthday, etc.), but had to write a letter to Aaron's teacher (probably excusing him for something or other). After writing it all out, she signed it and then put kisses "XXXXX" underneath her name...
In the end, she decided to send the letter anyway, rather than writing it all out again. 8)
Reminds me of a friend (who shall definitely remain nameless) with an unfortunate juxtaposition during a very fancy dinner party.
After being in the habit of being around toddlers for way too long, she burst out with "I have to go pee-pee" a little louder than intended.
In the grand scheme of things, I think an extraneous "XXXXX" isn't much to worry about :-)
