Meeting up and all that jazz

Posted at 12:58 AM on 23 August 2002

This evening, I met up with about 50 or so free (and current) wheelers, for the leaving do of Ian C and the maternity leave of Sharon J. It served as a bit of a reunion - there were people there that left up to about nine months before I did - and was really good fun, even if I did get a bit "tired and emotional" towards the end...

Anyway. I promised Big Dave P (who I may have already mentioned here) that I'd mention his favourite word, "Jazz".

No, I don't know either, but I can't let him down as he's a top bloke and I love him to bits 8). Anyway. He maintains that rather than use words like "cool", "excellent", "nifty", and so on, we should substitute the word "jazz", extending the "aaa" sound to indicate relative jazzness, from "jazz" to "JAAAAAAAAAAZZ!" (for something particularly splendid and exciting, for instance).

To be honest, I remain skeptical, but feel free to drop the expression into conversation as much as you wish, and make him very happy man indeed. 8)

(hey, it works!!)

No it doesn't at all 'hey thats a jazz monkey' doesn't sound as good as 'thats a funky monkey' dave sadly you are wrong, or possibly un-jazz.

Ive only just noticed this. thx Chris. much appreciated.

Jazz is actually spelt Jaz, or at least the version we use.

I hope you enjoy using it!
