Height of Decadence

Posted at 12:27 PM on 13 October 2002

I'm now the proud owner of one of those pumps that suck the air out of wine bottles in order to stop it spoiling. Not sure how well it works yet, but am trying it out with a bottle I opened last night (a glass of red wine contains about 100 calories, assuming a 12.5% abv.).

Speaking of which, I've lost another stone in weight. Still one more to go before I reach my overall target, but at least I feel like I'm getting there...

well done on the weight loss, i'm still stuck at 78 kilos ! bit of a pain... found a way around the problem with wine keeping, drink it all in one go, saves having to recork the bottle (my dad would be proud)

;-)

Don't worry, I'm still heavier than you... (but not much... not much at all... ;-) )

Don't worry either of you - I'm still heavier than both of you....(but a good margin)....

Sorry - that should have been '*by* a good margin'

And here we were, thinking you were only talking about your but... ;)

Congrats on the wine pumpie thing. I have one myself, and don't use it that often thanks to the marvelous technique highlighted by t'other Dave.

Also ... weight loss + wine pumpie thing + alternate wine keeping technique ... hmmm ... don't know how well that's going to work for you :-)

Well, I managed to eke out a highly pleasant bottle over the last four days using the pump thing... As long as I don't do the whole bottle thing I'll be OK for the time being. 8)

So ... is it true ... does the bottle grow by 1-3 inches??

I've not noticed any increase in size as of yet, but it does seems to last a lot longer than usual...

I used my wine pumpie-thing tonight and am pleased to announce that in doing so it grew an inch.
