Like (I'm sure) a lot of people, I get more junk mail through my letterbox than I do real mail. I passionately hate it, and immediately bin anything that is obviously junk, probably like (most) other people.
The direct mailing people obviously understand this too, as much more junk I get these days arrives in plain envelopes that I obviously have to open to check.
Enter MPS Online, the Mailing Preference Service, which provide an online form to help you "opt out" of future "direct marketing". Whilst it takes 3-6 months to kick in, it's apparently quite effective.
So go there now, and banish that junk!
(Thanks to Stairs, commenting on Jon's post for the link).
I thought I'd try their register for getting everything, instead of unregistering. I'm expecting my letterbox to be stuffed to overflowing in 3-6 days.
I notice they have a limited number of categories, I would like some wierd junk mail, but I guess real wierdos keep their own mailing lists and don't bother with the MPS too much.
