Because of the incident mentioned here, I ordered a replacement from dabs.com that was dispatched on 2nd September with an estimated delivery window of 3-5 working days.
A week later, I emailed them to ask where it was, as I hadn't heard anything and was getting a bit anxious.
"We sent it out with Parcelforce", they wrote back, "the tracking code is XYZ123."
So I duly go to the Parcelforce website and enter the code.
"Held at depot", it said.
I rang them up to ask them about it. It transpired that delivery (and redelivery) had been attempted on 3rd and 4th September, but for whatever reason they'd elected not to leave me a note to tell me about it. How kind.
I was given a number to call in Milton Keynes (where the depot was located) and told to speak to them to arrange another delivery date.
Which I did. I asked them to deliver the parcel today, as in Wednesday 17th September, when somebody would be in. They even took my phone number to call just in case they weren't able to deliver it.
So obviously, they attempted redelivery yesterday. At least this time they left a note, which stated that the parcel had been returned, once again, to the depot in MK, and that I would have to call them AGAIN to arrange redelivery. They'd also helpfully noted that they would not be attempting redelivery.
I was not, as they say, best pleased.
I rang them again today. As it turns out, they are going to attempt redelivery today. Fat lot of good that is -- because they'd left a note to say that's precisely what they weren't going to do, nobody will be in.
So in the likely event that their attempted redelivery has once again failed, I've arranged for them to try again on Friday.
I think this is the part where somebody's trousers are supposed to fall down.
I hate parcelforce...
my chance to have a real rant here.
I ordered a whole mass of pc bits from ebuyer, and paid £40 extra to have it delivered on saturday.
driver duly delivered on the right day, but to the wrong house, occupant was out.
occupant later comes home, pops around to me with card parcelforce had put thru the door, saying "sorry you were out" etc. etc. etc.
phoned parcelforce sat afternoon, all gone home.!
phoned parcelforce mon..told story..asked to arrange delivery for following saturday.
got home, parcelforce had attempted to deliver again to my house that a.m mon...left card "sorry you were out" etc.
Tuesday,
phoned parcelforce...
conversation something like this.
"can you deliver xyz parcel this saturday please",
"i'm sorry, we can't deliver on a saturday unless you have paid extra"
"I did pay the extra"
"but we attempted delivery on a weekday, if we attempted delivery on a weekday, you couldn't have paid the extra"
"no, that's cos you attempted delivery to the wrong house first on the saturday"
"i'm sorry sir, we have no record of that, we can only deliver on a weekday"
"well can you deliver to my work address"
"I'm sorry sir, we can only deliver to the address on the card".
then had same circular conversation with the manager...!!!
asked if I could pick the stuff up on saturday..
yup..fine..close at 12.00..just make sure you get here before 12..
phoned ebuyer..
(12 in call queue etc. etc.)..
cancelled payment of extra £40.
drove over sat, left at 9.00.
long drive around south circular.
huge accident.
stuck in jam.
phoned parcelforce.
very nice lady, explained situation.
she assured me she would stay 'til 12.30 as I had so much trouble..
got there 12.10..
place closed !!!
monday.
phoned parcelforce.
explained situation.
"can you deliver on saturday".
"you have to pay extra for that"
blah blah blah blah..
3 weeks later.
eventually got stuff delivered to work after many complaining phone calls, a letter, and getting thru' to very efficient customer services woman at ebuyer..
she felt, after speaking to parcelforce, that they had done an attempted cover up by destroying all the paperwork showing they had carded the wrong house...
i.e.
management of parcelforce very puzzled, as no paperwork or computer evidence that that ever happened..either that or management were lying as well...
and you think you had problems with parcelforce.!!
been dying to get that off my chest for ages..
thanks.
I do like the idea that the word Parcelfarce could become common usage. It's the only way to strike back at the idiocy of the service.
One of my stories involves winning an item in Hong Kong on ebay and having it sent here to London.Never arrives,no tracking number available.God knows....
Give up hope on ever getting it.No problems with seller,he emails me scan of sending document.
3 Months later seller emails in good chinglish
"why you not take.....".The parcel had been returned. So I repay him again for express air insured tracked wonderprice and i got it soon after.
Parcelfarce had "tried to deliver" according to the return but had not of course carded at all, ever.Hence my little fun.
But we can take it in our stride now....

heh, i had a similar experience over an xmas present ordered for me off amazon by my dad. I got a card through, and decided to use the website to get them to redirect the parcel to my office. i was going away, so figured it'd be here by the time I get back.
surprise surprise it's not, so I spend the next couple of weeks trying to arrange re-delivery, getting new reference codes etc. In the end, I decide to get my dad to look into it instead. Turns out it had been returned to amazon. It just didn't occur to anyone at parcelfarce to mention this to me, instead letting me call them and harrass them into delivering something they no longer actually had.

Contacted Parcelfarce after 5 days waiting for a parcel from a seller on Ebay as seller said the parcel HAD been delivered by ParcelForce to "Bluebin"...
Now, knew most of my neighbours and hadn't a clue who "Bluebin" was...
Only pure chance that I had to put some old newspapers into the paper recycle bin out the back of the house...and yep, you guessed it...
Package sitting half way down the bin...the BLUEBIN!!
Complained to Parcelforce but they said "you got your package didn't you?"
