Pop Idol 2003

Well, it's about to kick off again (and yes - I know it's been running for weeks now, but what I mean is that we're into the final 12!), but I have to admit that I've been completely sucked in once again. God knows why, but there you go.
Tonight was the "wildcard" night, which bought back the best-of-the-rest who didn't quite make it through the first time round. Unfortunately, it was mostly crap, but had a couple of stand-out performances.
The most important one being from Suzanne. I couldn't believe it when Brian scraped in ahead of her last time round, as she was so easily one of the top three in the competition.
But she won the wildcard heat tonight. I'm sure the neighbours heard us cheering.

i couldnt believe it when mark dillan got voted OUT he was the best he had it all. a true popidol.
I hope mark goes on to do somthing because he has an amazing voice and is a lovely person. (and he is gorgeous) I hope sam wins it because he is exellent but i love mark d too pieces and i am dissapointed he dint go through.

oh dear, i see Natalie found her way here too! Mike and Chris, i'm sorry for my friends posting behaviour, but, unfortunately she is slightly eccentric and effusive both online, and off. at the moment she is wiping dust off my moniter with her sweatband, and singing along to the new penguin advert... everytime i hear... a rat a tat tat, or something similar... anyway you will not be hearing the last from me! following and apologising from natalies comments.... and yes, my spelling is inaccurate, blame a lesson of AS level geography where you sit with 4 girls whilst commenting on the population problem of oagadougou or whatever.. anyway, err bye.... go roxanne! we met her, well natalie did i cant remember, but it happened..!

well all i gotta say iz from watching the show from the begining, itz good that the contestants have a lot of support from the public!!! but then it has its downsides. Becoz the wrong people r going out!! i mean look at Andy & Roxanne they were getting better & better each week! i have nothing wrong with the other contestants but, sorry to say it Suzanne but i honestly think you should have gone weeks ago. (sorry)i think SAM & CHRIS SHOULD GO ALL THE WAY!!!!!! they deserve.

Wow, last night's show, the big band, CHRIS AND SAM TO WIN, I CAN'T CHOOSE BETWEEN THE 2!!!! but chris is so gorgeous in that suit, he looked fab!!!!!
But when Pete said Sam was a winner, i so argreed with him, but i we have got to make Chris go far, even if he doesn't win, he should get a record contact, coz i cud listen to his voice all day.
I recorded his performance and i have seen it over 20 times so far, he is just amazing!!!!!!!1
Hi, I am a Chris fan too. I think he has a fantastic voice and I could listen to him sing all day long. You don't have to win this competition to prove you are a winner, look at Gareth and Darius. I really want Chris and Sam to be the final two and I want Chris to win. Good Luck Chris, if you are reading.
Hi there I could not agree more with Julie's earlier comments. I think the final will be between Chris and Sam, with Sam the eventual winner. However Chris, otherwise known as "the Vicar" well what can you say about that voice it is truly the best voice I have heard in many years and that includes some of the so called pop stars of today. Way to go Chris and good luck
I cant believe chris went tonight, he was by far the best and should of made it to the finals and won. He is a brilliant singer who has overcome alot of critisism about his looks, i think there is nothing wrong with him at all i think he is lovely. I hope he brings out a single as i will definatly buy it as im a big fan and always will be.
Chris was by far the most talented contestant on Pop Idol this year. Sam is just another in a long line. Is being 'fit' all that matters? If so, there are much 'fitter' singers out there. Michelle..hm..Careful marketing by herself. First it was..vote for me coz I'm fat. Next, vote for me all of Scotland please...she kept that one going. Last night it was..vote for me coz I'm the last woman...come on girls! why doesn't she say..vote for me coz I'm the best. Well. coz she aint. I've heard fat singers before and she's not the best. She's not really even good. Mark...bless. Stick to karaoke. Chris will have a career because he understands music , can sing as good as George Michael and is a lovely person. When the camera pulled back from Chris being interviewed by Kate, the others looked a real odd bunch of sadsters. The best idols have gone. What's left aint much! Think before you give a sympathy vote.

I think you have so much talent it's unbelievable and even though the other pop idols are good and deserve there share in the glory i think you steal the show. What is going on? I can't belive you were voted off on Saturday. Mark was just gringe worthy and you were on another level!! You are SO goign to have a record deal after this. If Will Young has any sense he'll duet with you!! You are talented both as a musician and a singer. I sobbed my heart out when the result was read. There's no justice in this world. But upon saying that, maybe they did you a favour as now you can "choose" who to work with in the industry, rather than be "told" by 19 management.
Congratulations on getting this far and I loko forward to seeing you on TOp of the pops or even better on Jules Holland one late Friday evening!!

I think Pop Idol is turning into Big Brother. It doesn't matter how good you are as a singer. It's just about image and appealing to the public to be kept in. Chris and Roxy were miles better than anyone else. Chris sounds like an angel and will outlast Michelle who will be forgotten within a year as Pete Waterman said. I think Simon is testing how much power he has over the public by saying he wants Michelle to win. When was the last time he managed anyone like her? He's having a laugh with us. Bring back Chris and chop Mark or Michelle.
I also cant believe sam got voted off tonight.
i knew it from the start of the 10 that it was going to be sam atleast top 5, he was by far the best and the most humorous...have to say i dont think leon should have gone so early even though he showed he could only sing michael jackson :(
shame... i definately think sam will progress with a record company after this compo.
Roxanne, Chris and now Sam. Its like my mum posted earlier, this competition has moved away from being about music and is about keeping the underdog alive. Just like big brother! A few weeks into the thing and the best ones are voted off. We are left with the quiet boring ones. Same here. The best singers are gone and we are left with the fat one everyone said would never last and the karaoke singer. Just coz people feel sorry for them and want to teach the panal a lesson. What a talentless, boring final we've got with people who will never last in the music business. Come back Chris and Roxanne and Sam and Gareth and Will!

I can't believe the fat one won. She's totally untalented and only got voted on cos all the housewives in the world feel sorry for her. I'm not saying that having a really skinny girl would have been the answer, but a porker like that is only good for eating pies. You really think that people are gonna watch TOTP to see her fat thighs rubbing together, stanking up the joint with her beef-smellin' BO? I think not. She won cos she has a much much better voice than Mark. She won because she as unusual and showed that you don't have to be a twig to be a pop star - look at Alyson Moyet, Meatloaf, Rueben Studdart (or whatever his surname is) who won the American Pop Idol, Barry White, The Weather Girls, Aretha Franklin and unfortunately too few larger pop stars to mention.
People who are not a size 8 or 10 (the majority of women in this country) are going to watch TOTP and think - fantastic if she can do it we can too.
They're going to think it is possible to look more than half way decent if you wear the right clothes, do something to your hair and have a positive attitude.
She won, cos it's great to have a woman rather than another bloke (even though Sam was my favourite to win)
She won because Mark is a pleasant cheeky chappy but he has a rubbish voice, is more suited to Butlins than TOTP, is way too ordinary to succeed in the pop world.
Let's see who's still around in a year's time. Mark WON'T be, but Michelle and Sam will.
Mark only got as far as he did cos he got half of the Midlands to vote for him about 60 or 70 times
(I really think that people should only be allowed to vote once from each phone line - ITV ara being money grabbing and sensationalist for allowing people to vote 60 or 70 times - it's ridiculous, what other system lets people vote so often)
So YAY to Michelle, once Sam was out she deserved to win.
I suppose that's what we get for living in a country full of fat, ugly women. Michelle looked awful in every outfit she was forced into - and most of those were expensive, professional articles of clothing. What hope do the super-sized women of the UK have when they're looking up to this pork-pie for an idol? Most probably spend their money on food instead of XXXL sized clothes and don't have a hope of looking even as shabby as tub-idol here.
It annoys me, this new culture breeding in the UK. All our TV presenters and idols are becoming fat, ugly, gay or some racial minority. Let's hope the children in our schools aspire to be an overweight, buck-toothed faggot who sits waiting in the benefit office for their asylum cheque.
I hope Michelle's career never takes off. At least she'd be comfortable endorsing fast food products or presenting some second rate caberet show on ITV2.
