Challenge-Response: A Rant (Updated)

[Toned down a bit from the original posting]

I hate Challenge-Response (CR) systems with a passion. Anyone who uses one is a cretin, and needs to be treated as such. I don't care how much spam you get. Stop whining. I get several hundred spams on a QUIET day, up to about fifty an hour. I ignore them. I cope. So should you. Unfortunately, of the few messages that still get through, "Please confirm this email!" messages still get through my extensive filters.

My email address is regularly Joe-Jobbed. If you don't know what that means LOOK IT UP, IT'S THE INTERNET. So I end up getting a gazillion "please confirm this message" emails so somebody, somewhere doesn't get a spam. I get your spam so you don't have to. YOU UTTER, UTTER WHELK.

I will confirm all spam messages by hand. You deserve it. I will read your wibbly writing. I will decipher your "prove you're a human" conundrums.

CR systems are fundamentally rubbish as they break email. You pay for one, you're a complete and utter prune. So if I happen to send you a real message and get a "challenge-response" that's the last you'll know as you go on my kill list.

By the way, I particularly enjoy getting CR messages WHEN I REPLY TO THE STUPID EMAIL YOU ACTUALLY SENT ME IN THE FIRST PLACE.

If you like, I can introduce you to the plank of wood with nails stuck in it I lovingly refer to as "the cluestick".

Just don't expect to reach me over email.

Thank you for your time.
