Yeah yeah. It's been a while. And I've not even been away. :-)
I think I'm going to have to change the way I approach my site (yet again). I do enjoy writing stuff here, but given the "new format" I don't think it works. I think it's probably better for me to post "little and often" than one big splurge every now and again.
My life is insufficiently interesting to spluge on anything very much these days.
So. Here are a few things I've been considering since the last time I posted.
I don't know why people do this. The "Waddle-Jog" (as I call it) is the kind of sappy run people do when they don't want to walk behind you for whatever reason. Rather than walk past normally, a half-walk/half-run method of overtaking is employed, usually with hands in pockets (adding to the comedy, in my opinion). After what they believe is a safe distance, they slow back down to a more normal walking pace. And inevitably, about two minutes after that, I've caught up with them again.
I mean, what's the point?
Waddle-joggers annoy me because (a) they look ridiculous, even more so than Olympic speed-walkers, and (b) it's a pathetic way of overtaking. If you're not going to keep up the pace, then why bother at all?
Another mystery I've found myself pondering is exactly how several wheelie bins I walk past on my way to the train station each morning have come to melt. None I've seen look consistent with fires, nor any sign of foul play, so I can only assume that something overly-hot was added at some point.
But the question is: what? Each bin has a notice that clearly states hot ashes are a no-no, so I can only assume that it must be something else (the bottoms of these bins aren't melted, it's almost always the lid or aroundabouts the lid) and so my prime suspect is chip fat or hot oil. The trouble is, I don't know at what temperature wheelie bins melt, so I don't know if oil can actually get hot enough to do the job (~185-200C for vegetable oil, but up to almost 300C for olive oil).
I've also been thinking about other things. What is, exactly, an OBASS site? Why is there so much building activity in Luton at the moment (including demolitions). Why has my MP started writing to me so frequently? And lots of other stuff. Including the new series of Doctor Who which I'm greatly enjoying. Even if Ecclesgone.
Who says my life isn't filled with quiet interest? Hmmm....
I've started getting letters on occasion from my MP as well. Which I wouldn't mind so much if it weren't for the fact that she is blatantly using House of Commons material for partisan promotion work about how wonderful she is, rather than anything particularly useful.
Can't wait to vote her out frankly ...
